Know your rights
Two laws every service member should know
SCRA: 6% interest cap
Debt you took on before active duty, including credit cards, can be capped at 6% interest while you serve. You have to ask in writing and send your orders.
MLA: 36% cost cap
Credit opened while on active duty, including credit cards, is capped at a 36% military annual percentage rate, which counts most fees, for you and your dependents.
From one veteran to another
I started Today's Credit Cards in 2007 to help people make sense of credit card offers. Today the site has one focus: helping veterans, service members and their families choose cards wisely, use the benefits they've earned, and stay out of debt traps.
No hype and no pressure. Just plain-English explanations so you can decide for yourself.
